Pole dance class in Busan: What to expect as a beginner (foreigner-friendly class in English)
Harry Poler 2025. 12. 27. 16:15You probaly think that pole dance looks cool and fun to try out but it is not for you because you think you don't have enough strength? That's what I hear a lot, but... think again! Pole dance isn’t just for the strong. Anyone (yes, you๐ซต) can enjoy it. Especially, I am offering a pole dance class taught entirely in English for expats in Busan, South Korea. And this is your chance to learn poledance in English if you've hesitated because you could find studios teaching only Korean. In this post, I'll answer common questions that those who have never tried poledance class before might have in their mind.
Class Structure
Each 60-minute session is carefully structured to help you learn step by step while staying safe:
- Warm-Up (15 minutes)
We’ll start by warming up your muscles and stretching to prevent injuries and get your body ready for movement. - Conditioning (5 minutes)
You’ll learn the fundamental grips that will be used throughout the class, preparing your hands and arms for tricks. - Learning Tricks (30 minutes)
Next comes the most exciting part: learning tricks. I bring a full combo that combines multiple tricks and shapes, breaking it down step by step. We start with easier versions and gradually progress, and I give each student individual feedback and spotting to ensure safety and confidence as you try new moves. For those with some experience, I adjust the level of tricks and combos to suit your skill. - Practice Full Combo (5 minutes)
Once you’ve practiced the individual tricks, you’ll have a few minutes to put the full combo together on your own, focusing on smooth transitions. - Dance with Music & Video Progress (5 minutes)
The final part is all about expression. Dance your full combo with music while taking a video so you can see your progress. This turns pole dance from a workout into an art form and a way to express yourself.
What to Expect for Beginners
- Prior Experience: No prior experience is needed! We start with very basic tricks and combos. For experienced students, I adjust the level of tricks and combos to suit you.
What you wear matters for safety and comfort. These small details ensure you get the best grip on the pole and avoid slipping:
- What to Wear: Shorts and a sports bra, sleeveless top, or t-shirt.
- What Not to Wear: Leggings (skin contact is needed for grip), body lotion or hand cream (can make the pole slippery), and rings (can scratch the pole).
Studio Facilities
Our studio is known as one of the prettiest in Busan. It’s clean, warm, and fully equipped:
- Changing Room: Private lockers, changing booth, and a sink to wash hands anytime.
- Training Room: 8 poles (so every student gets their own without sharing) and crash mats for safe practice.
- Decor: We love decorating the studio seasonally to create fun and inspiring vibes (for example, a Christmas zone!).
- Various Class Options: Beyond pole dance, we also offer yoga & other aerial art classes such as aerial hoop and aerial sling.
